Judicial Review

A judicial review is a civil law procedure to determine whether a public authority has treated an individual lawfully.

It can be applied to any decision made by a prison governor, probation officer or parole board, or even the Secretary of State.

An application must be made to the High Court within three months of the decision in question, so it is important to act fast if it appears that a prisoner has been treated wrongly.
