Nick attends the Crown Court on a daily basis dealing with all types of criminal cases, from fraud to sex, drugs and violence.
Although Nick's specialty is Crown Court advocacy he has also done considerable work in appealing taxi licence revocations against local councils as well as other civil appeals in the magistrates court.
Nick also attends the police station as he is a qualified duty solicitor as well.
Notable successes include:
R v S - Domestic Violence (ABH). This was an allegation of violence between my client and his girlfriend who was heavily pregnant at the time. The matter went to trial and even though my client's girlfriend gave evidence against him, the jury returned a not guilty verdict in 3 minutes. According to the clerk sitting at the time, this was the fastest time a jury had come back with a verdict at that court.
R v C - Domestic Burglary x 2. In this case, the defendant had pleaded guilty to two dwelling house burglaries and was to be sentenced with his co-defendant. Even though he had substantial previous for theft and handling, after a lengthy plea in mitigation he was sentenced to a suspended sentence. The client was very happy with the result as he came to court fully expecting to go to prison.
R v M - Domestic Violence. In this case, the defendant was said to have driven erratically and thrown his girlfriend out of a moving vehicle. The defendant maintained his innocence throughout and after a lengthy trial the jury returned a not guilty verdict. The defendant was a working professional who potentially had his career on the line had he lost this trial. He was delighted with the result.
R v S - Appeal against an assault. We successfully appealed against this defendant's conviction which meant he was still a man of good character and he did not lose his job.
R v JF - POCA. This case related to benefit fraud and the prosecution were trying to recover the monies which had been taken. Through tough negotiations we managed to decrease the amount payable by over 55%. The defendant was happy with the outcome.
These are just a few of Nick's successes and satisfied clients.
Nick regularly takes on cases on both a Private and Legal Aid basis and can be contacted directly at any time by email at email@example.com, or of course at the Luton Stuart Street office.
