Prison Category
The prison category will determine the type of prison they will serve their sentence at. It will also affect their options for offending behaviour program, the likelihood of your release on temporary license and also the chances of parole.
“Category A” prisoners are faced with particular difficulties, making it important to receive legal advice. The prisons will asses their ‘escape risk’ and they are liable to be moved more often and may have restrictions placed on their visits. Offending behaviour courses may be limited, making it even more difficult to obtain a re-categorisation as their risk factor is often based on the number of courses undertaken.
We can check that they have been correctly categorised and help them process through the prison system by achieving the lowest category wherever possible.
