Tim Nutley, Solicitor Advocate at Noble Solicitors is running the London Marathon
Tim Nutley, Solicitor Advocate at Noble Solicitors is running the London Marathon on 21 April in memory of Dorothy Louise Evans, his friends' daughter who sadly passed away on 7th September 2012, three days after she was born.
Unfortunately, Dorothy''s parents Carolyn and Phil are not alone – it is estimated that 17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day in the UK. In many cases, death could have been prevented if routine antenatal care had detected a problem earlier.
Dorothy was born not breathing and without a heart beat. Her parents explained:
"even we as non-medics could see that she was a very poorly little girl and was deteriorating rather than thriving. Her grandparents visited her daily and were able to hold her, and as parents we were lucky enough to be able to stay on the ward and spend every minute we could with our beautiful daughter."
It is unlikely that Carolyn and Phil could have coped with their loss as well as they did, without the support of the charity I am raising money for. SANDs (www.uk-sands.org) offer support to bereaved parents, promote research and campaign for better practices to reduce stillborn and neonatal deaths in the UK.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to SANDs. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on SANDs' behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
I really appreciate all your support for this great cause.
